Still Alive: Back from the steppe
I took a nine-day tour of the Gobi Desert and the Mongolian steppe. Tomorrow, I suspect, I'll have the time to do a big post about the experience - though maybe not the whole thing. It's starting to seem kind of silly to me, for some reason, to write about everything in great detail right after I do it. I'm probably going to change modes: I'll tell one good story from the time since the last update, and give everything else in outline. That way I won't have to set aside, like, ten hours every week or two to write a bunch of blog posts on a hostel computer. Right now, though, I'm not even doing that... I'm just checking in to say that I'm back, and I've even showered. Pretty soon I'll be off to dinner and then a show (that same band again - this time I'm the one introducing other people to them). Tomorrow I have some time to kick back a bit. Then hopefully I'm off into the bush again.

Well Okay. I am Sooo jealous and impressed at the same time. How did you travel through this area? What did you see? Did you stay in a Yurt? Did you see any dinosaur digs? What did you eat? Did you travel with anyone? Did you find many interesting personalities? Did you shower while you were in the Steppes? Do you have pictures? Many, many more questions for later - yada, yada, yada, yada. Grandpa
We are so glad to hear you are back. We figured you were way out in the boonies, doing your thing. BTW, just so we'll know, when do you take the Trans-Siberian? Dates if you have them. Grandma
Way to go, Nathanael! Keep on enjoying all those rare experiences!

See if you can learn that Tuvan throat singing. That could be a useful skill.
Sorry, guys, no full post today. Tomorrow morning I'm going to embark on a four-day independent walking tour, and then hopefully I'll have time to finish the post that I started today and half finished, before I get on the train to Ulaan Ude on the 13th.
Your brother has gotten very googly eyed over a cute girl he met at a festival we both went to. I think he REALLY likes this one, more than any girlfriend he has had in the past. Her name is Dakota Morningstar and she goes to OU, where he had already decided he wanted to go next year hopefully.
